Aunt Edna's 80th Birthday

My dear Aunt celebrated her 80th birthday in December.  We tried to get a celebration together around her birthday and it just did not happen.  So my cousin suggested Memorial Day weekend so I went with it, and we had the most wonderful time getting together with family and friends to celebrate Edna's 80 years!  Here is the special cake I made for an amazing remarkable lady!  And thanks so much to my dear friend Kathy Hayes for coming down and taking these amazing photos for me!  All the flowers are handmade gumpaste flowers... took a long time to make them all but love the end result!

Jeanne's 30th Birthday

Our beautiful daughter turned 30 and so I made her cake... this poor cake had to travel 6 hours in a snow storm to get there!  The roads were horrible but we made it and so did the cake.  The birthday party was a ton of fun and we had a wonderful weekend with all of our children.
The cake had pictures of her from baby to age 30.  All printed on edible rice paper.

I have included a couple pictures of the trip... the freezing rain was coming down so hard our window had ice all over it.  The snow was deep and could not really tell where the road was the plows had not come through yet.  It was a fun drive!!!

Sara & Doug

Sara & Doug were married in downtown Portland and delivering their cake makes me VERY thankful for the simplicity of living in small town USA!  Their venue was amazing and I hope they enjoyed their cake.  It was a rough buttercream cake with all fresh flowers.  Congrats Sara & Doug!

Taking a Break...

I have had several ask... where are your new cakes????
Well... there are not any new cakes since Kimber & Brandon's wedding!
I know... for me sounds crazy huh?  I decided that I wanted some ME time in January so that is exactly what I have done... cardmaking, scrapbooking... playing and just relaxing.

I will be at it again the middle of February for Tucker's first Birthday.  And I have a couple cakes in March... one in April... then shortly after that wedding season begins and all craziness happens!

If you are a bride looking for a wedding cake...
shoot me an email I have limited dates left open for this summer but there are a few still open.

Enjoy Valentines Day!  I have not even baked for Valentines Day!  I can't believe myself!

Kimber & Brandon Beers

Kimber had sent me several photos of cakes that she liked but decided that they were boring.  So we got our heads together and via email... and we came up with the idea to do a black cake.   Kimber wanted her cake to be unique.  It turned out so nice.  Their wedding day was beautiful as were the bride & groom!  Congratulations Mr. & Mr. Beers...may your marriage be a long and happy one!

Wylie's First Birthday!

My niece, Leslie asked me if I could show her how to make birthday cakes for her sons.  I don't usually teach classes... I have NEVER taken a class.  I have just learned by reading and researching.  So I thought what a fun thing to do!  I remember when our children were little and I wanted to learn how to make cakes and just bought some cake decorating books and went from there.  I would have loved to have someone show me some tips and tricks... so of course I would love to help Leslie learn the tricks!  So we got together a week ago and made all the decorations so they would have time to set up and dry.  Then on Wednesday, we baked the cakes, then tonight we iced, covered with fondant and put on all those decorations!  What fun!  And what a special thing for Wylie to have his mommy make his first birthday cake!  Leslie is a very fast learner.  She did fantastic!  Leslie... this brought me so much joy to be able to help you!  Hope you learned a lot!

More Gingerbread Houses!

I invited my nieces and their families over to make gingerbread houses and it was such a joy to watch the little ones making their houses!  I had everything all set up when they got here....

Everyone quickly got to work!

At the end of the gingerbread party... everyone had their own unique creation.... family memories to last forever... and I can not say how much joy it brings me to have my nieces and their families come over and spend the day like this.  Thanks Kids!  Hope you all had fun!

I baked samples for 4 brides last weekend... here they are!

Gingerbread Houses!

I baked gingerbread houses and took them to Medford with me last weekend so our grown up kids could decorate them.  What a hoot!  It brought me great joy to see them each creating their own special house.  They each were unique and fun!

Courtney & Colton

Courtney brought a picture of a cake she had fallen in love with and we used it for inspiration and changed it to make it her very own special cake.  We suprised Colton with the groom's cake.  When I met with them he said he just wanted something in camo for the wedding... so I made a special groom's cake for him in camo!  The bottom tier of the groom's cake was to look like a tree stump with their initials carved into it.  I added a boat on the top with fishing gear inside.  And a few ducks and cattails completed the cake.   And I also did mini cupcakes for them.  Each cupcake had a mini sunflower on it.
